Youth Fishing Tournament
One of the most popular events for kids and families
is the youth fishing tournament along the banks of
the Nanticoke River at the end of Water Street. The
tournament (starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday) is open
to youth in the following age groups: 3-6; 7-11 and
12-16. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Trophies
will be awarded to winners in each age group.
Participants are reminded to bring their own fishing
rods. Bait will be supplied. There will also be many
door prizes and giveaways donated by local
businesses. Participants do NOT need a state fishing
license to participate.
Visit the Vansciver Children’s
Area, sponsored by Nemours Health and Prevention Services, on
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for host of activities for
youth.
Children will be able to board
the “duck train” from the children’s area, do a hula-hoop
contest, play games, do sand art and visit the clowns, Side by
Side. For a magical treat, visit Magic John on the steps of City
Hall at 11:30 a.m.
Downtown Seaford Treasure Hunt
The
Downtown Seaford Association encourages all visitors
to the Nanticoke Riverfest to participate in the
Treasure Map search. Maps can be picked up at the
information booth beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday,
July 11 and are due back at 3 p.m. Participants must
visit each location on the map to have it validated.
Competed maps are then placed in a drawing to be
held on July 11 at 8 p.m. at the main stage. Drawing
to be done by WTDK 107.1 “The Duck.” Winners need
not be present to win. Prizes must be redeemed
within 90 days.
