Youth Fishing Tournament

Saturday, July 8, 2017 Tournament begins at 8:30 a.m.
One of the most popular events for kids and families is the youth fishing tournament along the banks of the Nanticoke River at the end of Water Street. The tournament (starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday) is open to youth in the following age groups:

  • Junior: 3-6
  • Youth: 7-11
  • Teen: 12-16
Registration is not required, but participants should arrive early to secure a spot to fish along the Riverwalk. Participants are reminded to bring their own fishing rods and wear plenty of sunscreen. Bait and tackle will be supplied at the tournament. Participants do NOT need a state fishing license to participate.

Winners to be chosen by total inches of fish caught. Special categories include largest individual (lunker) fish caught, as well as most unusual catch.

Trophies will be awarded to winners in each age group. There will also be many door prizes and giveaways donated by Hastings Marine Construction.

This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
