Dear Riverfest
Participant,
This last year has been a time of many changes, but
one thing that hasn’t changed is that the 16th
annual Nanticoke Riverfest plans are underway. My
intention is to help you plan for our event. The key
words from me to you are patience and
cooperation - let’s work together to make this a
very successful event for you and all our
guests visiting us.
On Thursday evening, we open the weekend event with
low key entertainment. Vendors are not permitted
on Thursday. It’s “bring a picnic dinner and
enjoy the evening” event for locals.
On Friday, July 9th, if you plan to
participate on both days, you may set up your booths
starting at 3:30 p.m. – you will not be able to
enter High Street before that time. Events begin
at 5:00 p.m. The Miss and Jr. Miss Riverfest pageant
and live music will kick off Riverfest Friday night.
On Saturday, July 10th, you may start setting up at
6:30 a.m. - absolutely no earlier. Your vehicles
must be off the street by 8:30 a.m. for the safety
of the pedestrians. Riverfest officially opens at
9:00 a.m. Activities go on throughout the day –
Float-In, Duck Dash, Survivor-type Events, numerous
demonstrations, Car Show, motorcycle show, arts and
crafts, lots of food, youth fishing tournament,
children’s activities, canoe and kayak races, and
music and more music.
We will need a contact name and number for the
person responsible for your booth during the event.
Please make sure this is included on your
application.
Now let’s talk about the Rules and
Regulations:
PLEASE DO NOT SET UP
YOUR BOOTH WITHOUT CONFIRMATION THAT YOU ARE IN THE
CORRECT LOCATION.
1)
Exhibitor space is limited.
2) Larger vendor spaces are very
limited and may not be near the entertainment.
3) Riverfest and the City of Seaford will
not be responsible for any items left on the
street overnight. We will however, have police
patrolling the streets.
4) No parking on S. Cannon Street.
5) We will try to find parking near your
booth for your vehicles, but we can’t promise
anything other than we will try our best. We
will work with you to keep them as close to your
location as possible.
6) You will be sent a location number and
approximate location of your booth, in early
July.
If you have a large
truck bringing your booth, I strongly encourage you
to set up early. This will ease the congestion
problem.
- Providing
electric to each vendor is a problem. We
strongly recommend that you bring your own
generator. Please do not ask the local business
people to hook up to their electric. If you are
unable to bring a generator to service your
equipment, we will consider your application and
determine IF we can provide electric service for
your requirements. There is a fee of $100 for
this service. There is also a form to complete,
if you need this form please call me so that I
can send one to you. (302) 629-9173.
This is the ONLY way that we MAY BE ABLE T to
accommodate your electric requirements.
- Potable water
is available at several locations on High Street
and on Market Street. You are free to get water
at these locations. We will try to mark them so
that they are easily seen.
- It is your
responsibility to remove your booth and other
vehicles from the City’s streets at the end of
Saturday evening, no later the 11:30 p.m. All
vehicles not removed by this time, may be towed
by the Police Department. Abandoned vehicles
create problems when the streets are re-opened
to thru traffic. Your cooperation is greatly
appreciated.
July is usually very
hot. The entire area where the events are held does
not have much shelter from the heat. I recommend
that you bring a canopy to protect you and your
booth from the sun. We have also found over the
years, a carpet under your feet also helps reduce
the glare and cuts the heat from the pavement.
All that being said, the Riverfest Committee truly
hopes you will take part in the 16th Nanticoke
Riverfest. Enclosed is the application. Please
return it to me at your earliest convenience– first
come first serve. Food vendor needing electric must
be submitted no later than June 15th; all other
Applications need to be in my hands no later than
June 24th. You are NOT guaranteed the same location
that you had last year.
HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS is offering reduced room rates,
if you make your reservations before May 1st. The
phone number is 302-629-2000. Call and mention
Nanticoke Riverfest. Other local hotels may offer
reduced rates, but as of this writing, this is not
confirmed.
Any applications received after the deadline - your
location will be where ever space is available;
PLEASE do not complain to me that you do not have a
“good” location if you wait until the last minutes
to submit your application. .
If you have any questions or wish to talk me please
feel free to do so. I am here to help make your
experience at Riverfest pleasant and beneficial for
you.
