Museum Open House @ Nanticoke Riverfest

Saturday, July 13, 2019

The 1100 sq. ft. exhibit, the Nanticoke Maritime Gallery will be ready for visitors at the Seaford Museum for Riverfest.

The Seaford Museum has long been telling the maritime history of Seaford but has now created a new gallery composed of small buildings and Dorfman mannequins to represent the oyster, steamboat, canning with child labor, ship building and shad fishing industries here at the turn of the past century. A shad boat that Woodland resident Jack Knowles donated is featured under a starlit sky on April 1, 1900 created by NoUVIR fiber optic lighting.

Hundreds of pictures help tell the story of the Seaford’s Chesapeake Bay connection through motion activated digital frames. The Black Pilots of the Nanticoke exhibit serves as the entrance to the new gallery! Admission is free for Riverfest, but donations are always accepted.
